Vale John Hogan
Our dear friend John died at home in the early hours of Friday 4 December after a five year battle with bowel cancer. At his side was his loving wife, Jessie Edney, and his adult step-son Philip Edney. His final hours were not peaceful and comfortable and very difficult for his family to watch.
John Hogan was a DWDnsw committee member from 2011 to 2013, travelling down from the Central Coast to attend committee meetings in Sydney. He resigned only when his illness made this too difficult. He was a kind man who strongly supported an individual’s right to voluntary assisted dying. If the law in NSW was different John’s life could have ended much more peacefully and without any risk to his family.
