Support change

Now is the time to change the law in NSW

The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 is due to be introduced in the NSW Parliament in August or September this year.

There are many ways you can support the campaign to ensure this bill has the best chance of success:

  • Write a handwritten letter or visit your local Member of Parliament (MP).

This will be a conscience vote so the view of your local state MP is crucial. We need parliamentarians to recognise the wide community support and realise it is time to act.

  •  Watch our latest video and sign the petition

Annie has Motor Neurone Disease and is fighting for the right to choose a peaceful death. Signing her petition is one of the easiest ways you can support the campaign. Click here to sign her petition or click here for more information about Annie’s campaign “Don’t leave me trapped in a dying body – allow me to die peacefully”

  • Contact your local newspaper and share your personal story

Help us spread the word by contacting your local paper and asking them to write a story on voluntary assisted dying. You can also write letters to the editor on this issue.

  • Become a member of Dying With Dignity NSW

We are an advocacy group. The greater the size of our membership base, the stronger our political clout. Click here to join.

  • Sign up as a supporter to stay informed

Sign up for news and events related to the NSW campaign for voluntary assisted dying and to add your voice to our campaign for change to the law. Click here to sign up.

  • Join us on social media

By following us on Facebook or following us on Titter and sharing our posts or retweeting, you can help spread the word about the need for law reform.

  • Make a donation

We need to make all our voices heard. In particular, we’d like to counter the fear and misinformation being spread by a well-funded minority who oppose this legislation. Our campaign involves everything from newspaper ads to video production and brochures and every little bit helps. Click to make a donation.

If you need help with doing any of the suggestions above, please email us at dwd@dwdnsw.org.au or leave a message on the office phone 02 9212 4782.

Thanks for your support.
