DWD Central Coast quarterly meeting
When: Friday 23 November 2018 – 10 am to 12 noon
Ms Bev Symons, Co-ordinator of Dying with Dignity NSW Central Coast Group, will provide an update on the latest news. As this is our final group meeting for the year we will also have our usual festive season morning tea.
Special topic for discussion: Towards achieving Voluntary Assisted Dying in NSW in 2019
Special guest: Penny Hackett, President of Dying with Dignity NSW
Penny Hackett is a Life Member of Dying with Dignity NSW and joined our board in February 2017. She was elected as our new President at our last AGM on 17 March 2018. Penny devoted much of her time last year to the campaign in support of the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill (2017) and is passionate about achieving success in NSW in the next few years.
As shown above, Penny, along with Dr Mehreen Faruqi, Greens MLC, (who was our guest speaker in February) joined the large group of our supporters who rallied outside Parliament House prior to the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill (2017) being debated in the NSW Upper House on 16 November 2017.
Penny Hackett BEc LLB (Hons), Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has worked as a lawyer in the financial services and banking industries for over 25 years and is presently legal advisor to a funds management and corporate finance business with a focus on corporate governance and compliance. Penny has been heavily involved in the not-for-profit sector over the last 10 years particularly the areas of public education funding and student capacity in NSW public schools.
