DWD Central Coast quarterly meeting with past DWD NSW President, Richard Mills

DWD Central Coast quarterly meeting

When: Friday 17 August 2018 – 10 am to 12 noon

Ms Bev Symons, Co-ordinator of Dying with Dignity NSW Central Coast Group, will provide an update on the latest news.

Special topic for discussion: Looking back over years of campaigning to achieve legalised Voluntary Assisted Dying in NSW

Guest speaker: Richard Mills – President, Dying with Dignity NSW (2012 to 2014)

Richard Mills is a Life Member of Dying with Dignity NSW, and was a member of our board from 2009 to 2014 and the President from 2012 to 2014. He has followed closely the developments about voluntary assisted dying, both in Australia and overseas.

Richard was formerly a member of the Senior Executive Service of the Commonwealth Public Service, mostly in the Prime Minister’s Department and the Department of Defence. Later, he taught politics at university, his most recent position being Adjunct Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Government at Sydney University.

When Richard and his wife are not enjoying their retirement travelling far and wide, he remains actively involved in the campaign for voluntary assisted dying in NSW. As shown above, Richard (along with immediate past President, Sarah Edelman, and current Vice President, Shayne Higson) attended the rally outside Parliament House prior to the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill (2017) being debated in the NSW Upper House on 16 November 2017.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
